  Civil War Art Exhibit 2012

 By Rogene Moore

The time has finally arrived where we have taken our art to Rahr West and have our own Civil War Art Exhibit.   The exhibit opened on090 Sunday Jan. 27th and will run to February 17th.  They have done an excellent job displaying and describing our treasurers.  This is really a must see for all Round Table members that live in Manitowoc or are able to come to Manitowoc. We have the hallway before entering the main exhibit hall and to the right going into the Mansion.   Thank you to Rahr West for all the work they have done setting up the display and thank you to Dennis Moore for spearheading this project.

1860s Civil War Christmas at Rahr West and the Manitowoc Public Library

By Rogene Moore

Some of the members of the Round Table gathered together to decorate the Doll Room at the Rahr West Museum at their invitation. Above are pictures of the room. I hope that everyone will have the opportunity to visit the Rahr West Museum Christmas Celebration. The museum looks wonderful. Everyone that decorated did a marvelous job. Of course we are a little partial to the Doll Room as we put our creative juices to work and came up with a very special room. Abe and Mary Lincoln are both there in a room at the White House.

The Manitowoc Public Library invited us to decorate a tree in the upper level in front of the children’s area. Several of the ladies of the Round Table got together and decorated the tree with ornaments that people would have had in the 1860’s. Not all are period, but they represent the time period and the librarians said they will be bringing the children to the tree at storytime and explain to them about the old-fashioned ornaments and the lack of tree lights. As you go to the library, look up to the landing at the top of the stairs for a peak at Christmas past.
